Privacy policy

Turf & Snow is a free weather and lawn-timing reference. We collect very little about you, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

What we collect

• ZIP codes and city searches. Looking up a place loads a public page for that place. We don't tie searches to you or keep an account for you.
• Email address (newsletter and snow alerts). If you sign up, we store your email, the ZIP or area you chose, when you signed up, and whether you confirmed. We use it only to send what you asked for.
• Sponsor and contact messages. If you use the sponsor form or email us, we keep your name, business, email and message so we can reply.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used for security, debugging and aggregate traffic counts, and are kept for a limited period.

Who processes data for us

• Resend sends our confirmation, newsletter and alert emails and stores the subscriber list.
• Vercel hosts the site, keeps request logs, and provides cookieless Web Analytics and Speed Insights (aggregate page views and performance).
• Neon hosts our database, which holds weather data and the sponsor inquiries described above.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies

Turf & Snow itself doesn't set advertising or tracking cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page views and measure page speed; they are cookieless, don't track you across sites, and report only aggregate data. Some pages may link to retailers through affiliate partner networks (for example Awin or Impact). If you click one of those links, the network or retailer may set a cookie on its own site to record that the visit came from us, so a qualifying purchase can be credited. Those cookies are governed by the partner's privacy policy, and you can block or clear them in your browser settings. See our affiliate disclosure.

Emails and unsubscribing

We use double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you confirm. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor requests promptly, consistent with the CAN-SPAM Act. You can also unsubscribe by writing to hello@turfandsnow.com.

Your choices and data requests

Email hello@turfandsnow.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, to get a copy, or to have it deleted. We'll respond within 45 days. Colorado residents have these rights under the Colorado Privacy Act where it applies, including the right to opt out of sale, targeted advertising and profiling; we don't do any of those. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.

Children

The site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you think we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security and retention

Data is sent over HTTPS and stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. We keep subscriber records until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, and sponsor messages for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and keep business records.

Law and changes

Turf & Snow operates from Colorado, United States, and this policy is governed by U.S. and Colorado law. If we change it, we'll update the date above, and we'll email subscribers about material changes.
